UAW wants EPA to regulate GHGs

examiner.com -- The United Auto Workers expressed their sentiment that Congress should move forward to enact comprehensive climate change legislation that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions; they did so in a letter they sent to the members of Congress recently.Although we recognize the difficulties involved in this effort, we believe that legislation can be crafted that will reduce global warming pollution while at the same time creating jobs and providing a boost to our economy. In particular, we believe such legislation can help to provide significant investment in domestic production of advanced technology vehicles and their key components, as well as other energy saving technologies. RealDeal: I agree on the part of "make oil less worth." We need alternatives to fossil fuels and need to start seeking them now.

Very well said RealDealSeeker from Columbus,

In addition to bringing our boys and husbands and wives home,

I am a big fan of CLEAN ENERGY to help give us non-toxic SOIL (especially around oil refineries and our roadways) and cleaner AIR (especially around oil refineries and our roadways), of course cleaner WATER (especially around oil refineries and our roadways).

What a concept.

Being able to take a breath of clean fresh air and drink a glass of clean fresh water [or tea ;0)] and grow our food in healthy soil ....

Guess I am just the old fashioned type.

I need clean fresh AIR and clean fresh WATER and healthy, non-toxic SOIL .
I prefer it for myself and for future generations.

SOOOOO much easier to prevent than to try to clean up these TOXIC MESSES.

It's true that the scientists and global warming supporters engaged in some trickeration -- lies and deceit -- to prove their theory. Poster monster Algore's tricked up movie was a clue. Especially since he can't seem to go anywhere unless it is by SUV, private jet or huge boat. If people like Algore led by example instead of with their pieholes, they would be more credible.

But that doesn't mean oil independence is a bad idea. Electric vehicles promise to reduce dependence on oil. Want to solve the mid east problem? Make oil worthless. Or at least way less valuable.

This is just self preservation for the UAW. It will cost all of us dearly, but the UAW will survive.

That is because the dems don't have the votes in Congress. This will be challenged in court and they will lose
Come November they won't be in power any more to make these stupid decisions.

They don't care about GHGs. They just want a piece of Al Gore's pie.

As always, UAW leadership vision is extremely myopic. Stick to building a better product for a reasonable price. Emission regulations will be decided internationally by powers other than this union.

In the 2004 election the possibility of closing an engine plant was use to play on UAW fears. It appears that the UAW can see the future clearly.

The UaW doesn't care about climate change, only the laws they *think* will generate more auto-related jobs (but actually might end up hurting auto-related jobs due to the economic impact of these laws).

Solving what problem (from below)? The only problem is the uaw labor rules that jack up the prices of cars - that is a problem. The uaw knows nothing about atmospheric physics and heat transfer.

The UAW brass are just a bunch of over-paid under-worked eggheads sitting on their duffs and stealing money from the laborers paying union dues.
