With my fleet when I go to the pumps, I typically buy 70+ gallons. I wait till one of the vehicles gets to about a quarter of a tank to start really WATCHING to decide whether to HOLD or BUY. When I am on my home turf, I buy from Kroger and use the Kroger savings plan of $1.00 off a gallon. Last year I really enjoyed the $2.00 off. I use my American Express (6% back on grocery store purchases) to buy gifts cards to build Kroger points, and I use the gift cards to make monthly purchases pay bills etc. I have been buying gas the day before and the day of the spike. When I buy the day before I might lose a few cents a gallon but it beat the rush and defiantly avoid the $.20 to $.30 per gallon spike price. I have one in my fleet that is almost to quarter of a tank so I am WATCHING; I made the choice not to buy during or prior to this spike. However, based on what Pax is saying about another spike early next week maybe I should have done the BUY thing yesterday before Kroger spiked here.
