Wegman from Twin Cities...
The article can be read by typing in the first couple of words from the title into the newspapers search box. Worth the read.
I believe your thinking about the Chinese is outdated. Today's young Chinese is very well educated, very focused, and very innovative. In fact, they work harder than we do routinely. Warren Buffett with his $230M investment doesn't make too many mistakes!
This battery could be the breakthrough the EV has been needing. More power to them!

Every country seems to be investing in the future except for the U.S. Soon, it would be pretty hard to catch up with the rest.

Great idea, lets just use batteries that cause us to burn more COAL in our power plants...we already have 'rolling brown-outs' when it gets excessively hot in some of our cities. Why not get more serious about natural gas? It's been used for years, yet only municipal and federal agencies seem to spend much money on it.

This sounds really positive for alternative energy sources. If it works as the article says, the feds can give tax breaks to those who buy hybrids and raise taxes on gasoline... wait isn't that what the feds are doing now?

Trump said "When you owe the bank a couple of million... they own you...
but when you owe the bank a couple of billion... YOU own them"
We owe China 1.3 Trillion (so far)...
who owns who???

Warren Buffet doesn't waste his time or money on failure....
China's electric car is ready for use with current technology for about $25,000 US...
with a better battery... they'll crush anything from here...
or the far east....
Cheap americans WILL buy this car...
just like 100's of other defective products from China...

'jedintheshed', I believe that the reference to being green is related to that impact after the battery is exhausted. I am not sure, but that would be my assumption. Most batteries, even lead acid and alkaline, are not necessarily a problem for the environment during there useful life, but it is what happens to them after they are no longer useful. Just a thought, not meant to be a criticism. Have a great 4th.

The battery may be "cheap, plentiful and green" but what about the disposal at the end of the battery life? Have they thought about that? Fill the landfills with these batteries.

We have had years to come up with a better battery and the Chinese beat us to it. That tells you how bad the US auto industry really is.
