I'm guessing your friends production is probably done by now, but I say this show Off-Broadway around Christmas last year in Manhattan. I laughed so hard I almost made myself sick. The show is a riot, the music is great, and the writing is very clever. If your friends are half as good as the cast I say perform this, they will definately have a hit on their hands...
