RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Penny by penny, gas prices are nearing a record high for Virginia.

The Triple-A's Mid-Atlantic office says the price of a gallon of gas is about one dime away from the $4.01 mark set on July 17, 2008. The auto club said it expects that per-gallon price to be surpassed within the next week or two.

As of this week, the price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Virginia was $3.91, about one penny less than the U.S. average.

The Virginia gas prices are up about one quarter from last month, and more than 30 cents from 2011.

Tell us something we don't know! Does AAA think we are idiots, or uninformed?

Yep, gas prices under the Bush Administration was higher. Funny how certain people want to forget that or pretend that the price was "just temporary." How do you know the price isn't just "temporary" this time? Or that the price of gas is being so easily manipulated that no president can actually do anything about these prices. Or that the free market so many hold dear is working that way you wanted.

.
They don't say. Image that, the AAA can add and subtract! What they don't mention is that the spike to $4.01 was very temporary and prices went back well below $1.75. With Obama's inaction and terrible energy policies and regulation, gasoline is going to stay high and not go back down as it did when Bush was in office.

What I want to know is why the AAA isn't reporting that Americans have suffered the highest average gas prices over the longest period of time since Obama has taken office? The July of 2008 spike was very short and price declined steadily. What I also want to know is why when gas was over $2 a gallon the Dumbocrats were screaming for Bush to do something because it was hurting the poor and they really went nuts when it hit $3, but today with gas prices well over Three Dollars for 6 months, not a word is heard from the Dumbocrats. I guess the Dumbocrats don't really care about the little people just politics!

given VA is next to the lawmakers, they deserve it, but I feel for the rest of the citizens of VA, they don't!

Saw regular gas at 4.11 in PA suburbs. I'm hoping for change in November!
