I drive an ford explorer and If I drive with the rpm at 2500 I get 25 miles to the gallon. So A tip that I have tried is that I've done this with other cars and it works saving me money by traveling at this rpm. thank you for your time. Bigdaddyo2010

That was the case 20-30 years ago. Today when on the highway (55 mph or better) it's acctually worse for mileage to have the windows open than to have the A/C running. The reason for this is because having the windows open creates drag that puts more of a load on your engine than having the A/C on.

Cars should make the best gas mileage at the rpm where torque is highest.

Remember no quick accelerations, pay attention and roll towards redlights etc

I found my Focus 2001 saves more gas when lower than 2400rpm which means 100kmh on highway.

If you could keep some lower rpm, you'd get even better mileage, provided you're on overdrive.

Usually driving and keeping your RPM's below 3000 is ideal. This helps mleage.

Are you able to run @ a lower RPM?
After hitting 80/hr (50mph) I hold a steady 1200rpm in 5th gear.
Gets me 1250km / 60iters (49MPG)
