My '09 Harley, averages around 43mpg on my commute, and around 53 on the highway @ 70mph. Had a high tank of nearly 58mpg once.
Best car would have been my SVT Focus. Only around 27mpg on my commute with VERY careful driving, but out on the highway it would knock down 35mpg tanks all day, and had one tank over 36mpg.

My 2003 Toyoya Echo is the best I've had. Averages 35-38 around town and 41-44 on the highwat. My personal best was on a 450 mile highway trip when I logged 49.8 mpg.

The best mileage I got on a 1999 Maxima (over 144K miles) was 34 mpg. Now, on my 2007 Pilot (over 20k miles), just once on a long trip, keeping strictly under 58mph and mostly on Cruise control, I got 31mpg.:) Never could repeat this feat !

Last year my 2008 Honda Civic (5-MT) got about 54 mpg -highway only. That is better than the Civic hybrid I had for 5 months.

My best reading has been 53mpg on a '93 Saturn. Usually gives me around 40 to 45.
Probably my old '81 Civic was slightly better on average (and smaller), but its best was only 51.

I had a 2001 Ford Focus that got great mileage. Of course horsepower was optional and it drove like it had a Briggs & Stratton engine in it. Wish I still had it though.

HAD A 1980 Ford Fiesta I bought new that got 43 MPG on the highway the first few years I owned it. Then it dropped down to 38MPG. Had it for 9 years before someone ran into it. Now much left of it after that but I walked away from the wreck.

Had a 1987 Sentra that would get 38 MPG at 75 MPH and a 2001 Plymouth Neon 3 speed auto that would get 37 at 70 MPH when using Regular gas. My current pickup best fuel mileage is 21 mpg not bad for a 4x4 vehicle weighing in at just over 7,000 lbs.

Id'd be a millionaire if I even got close to any of these mpg's. :-( (2003, S-10 Chevy pickup). It got better over the years, but still not great for that matter.

The best mileage automobile I owned was a 1985 Ford Escort. It had a 1.6 liter 4cyl with a 4-speed standard tranny got 42 mpg on average with it running super (34 mpg on ave with regular). Right behind that was a 1984 Dodge Aries wagon with a 2.2 liter 4cyl and a 4-speed standard. that got me 36 mpg on average with super (31 mpg ave with regular).

A 45mpg Neon? Did you calculate that on that fly by any chance? My 97 Geo will barely get mileage like that on the highway.
